Pedestrian Hit, Killed Trying To Cross Highway Through Nanaimo, B.C.

NANAIMO, B.C. — A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car while trying to cross a highway in Nanaimo, B.C.
 
Nanaimo RCMP say the 28 year-old man was hit by a car around 3:30 a.m. Friday when he attempted to cross Highway 19 near Woodgrove Mall.
 
Police say the 30 year-old driver and his female passenger stayed at the scene and tried to provide first aid until emergency crews arrived.
 
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Police say alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors, and the pedestrian was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing.
 
His name has not been released, but police say he lived in Nanaimo.
