Parks Canada Scales Back Search For Calgary Hiker Believed Killed When Swept Over Twin Falls

The Canadian Press, 16 Sep, 2015 04:43 PM
FIELD, B.C. — Searchers are scaling back their efforts to recover the body of a missing Alberta man believed swept over 100-metre falls in Yoho National Park.

A Parks Canada spokeswoman says staff have conducted an extensive search of the Twin Falls area for the 19-year-old Calgary man.

Tania Peters says it's believed the unnamed man was washed away on Sunday while hiking along the waterway near the Alberta border.

Searchers used helicopters for an aerial search, while also scouring the shoreline with a dog and handler.

Peters says Parks Canada will continue to monitor the area over the coming days.

RCMP in Golden, B.C., are treating the incident as a missing person case.
