A man has been charged after a paramedic was assaulted while responding to a call in Victoria.
City police say it happened last night when a man began hitting and kicking a paramedic in the face as they tried to medically assist him.
They say officers attended the scene to arrest the man and bystanders in the area became increasingly hostile towards them after they deployed a taser during the arrest.
Police say the paramedic was injured and was brought to the hospital for treatment.

Tania Visintin, the department's media relations officer, says police are "closely monitoring the situation" since Trudeau's announcement about the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a vocal supporter of an independent Sikh homeland, who was shot dead in Surrey in June.
