Paraglider, 60, Taken To Hospital After Plunging Down Victoria Cliff

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 08 May, 2015 01:39 PM
VICTORIA — A paraglider survived a brush with death Thursday when he plummeted down a cliff in Victoria.

Victoria Fire Department Batallion Chief Bob Jones says the 60-year-old man was flying with a group when he was struck by a down draft at about 8 p.m.

Witnesses say the man disappeared mid-glide below the top of the rock face located west of Clover Point.

Jones says the man fell into a bank, but other paragliders moved him onto a nearby beach and were assisting him when first responders arrived.

He says the man was complaining of back pain and might have suffered a spinal injury.

Jones says paramedics placed the man in a clamshell stretcher and he was taken to hospital in stable condition. (CFAX)
