After a month-long drug trafficking investigation, the Surrey RCMP Community Response Unit (CRU) have seized approximately $20,000 in cash and over 1 kilogram of crystal methamphetamine.

This investigation began on February 15, 2021, when Surrey RCMP CRU launched a project targeting suspected drug trafficking linked to a Cloverdale residence.

On March 15, 2021, the investigation led officers to a parking lot in the 2000-block of 152 Street where they observed suspected drug trafficking activity between two men and a woman. All three individuals left the area and were engaged by police separately.

One man left the parking lot on foot and was arrested nearby. He is alleged to have approximately $20,000 in cash in his possession at the time of his arrest. The second man left the area in a vehicle, and was also arrested nearby. Prior to his arrest, the man was observed allegedly throwing a container from his vehicle. When the container was recovered by police, they discovered it was filled with approximately 1 kilogram of suspected crystal methamphetamine. The woman was arrested at a residence in the 18400-block of 56 Avenue.

On March 16, 2021, a search warrant was executed at the residence on 56 Avenue. During the investigation at the residence, officers located approximately 554 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging materials, and a replica glock handgun. Officers also located stolen identification, cheques and license plates.

All three individuals have been released from police custody. Charges have not yet been laid, as further investigation is underway. A report to the BC Prosecution Service is anticipated.

This was a dynamic investigation requiring the officers to take quick actions to prevent the loss and destruction of evidence, says Inspector Harm Dosange, Surrey RCMP Community Support and Safety Officer. The drugs seized were equivalent to over 6000 doses, which has a direct impact on the safety of our community.
