Police in North Vancouver are warning residents of ongoing cases of online sexual extortions targeting youth in the area.
Mounties say scammers are targeting males by creating fake female online profiles, luring the victims into performing sexual acts on camera.
Scammers then use the recorded video to coerce victims into providing money or more sexual content under the threat of releasing footage to friends and family.
Police say parents should talk to their children about such cases, and officers will start making presentations at North Vancouver's schools in the next few weeks to educate students.
