Surrey RCMP is currently on scene following an assault that has left one man deceased.

On Wednesday, at 1:50 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to 14100-block of 61 Avenue after a report of an altercation between two men.

Upon arrival police found an adult male in medical distress.

Despite all attempts by first responders to save the man’s life, he succumbed to his injuries on scene.

A suspect was taken into custody by police.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time.

Earlier, British Columbia's Environment Ministry had said that only one wolf was still missing at the zoo, located about 55 kilometres east of Vancouver in the community of Aldergrove. It did not say how many had escaped at the facility, which says it has nine adult grey wolves and six cubs.

Based on the initial information it appears that the fires were deliberately started.  Due to the short time frame and close proximity of the fires police believe that they are likely related.
