One Dead, Two Hurt In Post Halloween Stabbing At Vancouver's Plaza Of Nations

The Canadian Press, 01 Nov, 2016 11:23 AM
Vancouver has recorded its tenth murder of 2016.

The stabbing death of the unidentified 25-year-old man occurred early Tuesday morning during what police say was an altercation between two groups.

The fight occurred at the Plaza of Nations near the northeast end of False Creek.

Acting Sgt. Brian Montague says it led to multiple stabbings and officers are still trying to determine the motive and exactly how many people were involved.

He says two victims remain in hospital, including an unnamed man listed in very serious condition.

Montague confirms several people are in custody, some as suspects and others as witnesses, but he says no one is co-operating with police.

"That gives you an idea of the individuals we are dealing with," he says.

Homicide detectives are appealing for any other witnesses to come forward.

"We are also at the every early stages of gathering forensic evidence, analysing that forensic evidence, gathering video from all the locations at the Plaza of Nations, as well as any personal cellphone video that may be out there."
