Road closure in effect in Whalley due to a fatal collision.

On Friday at 12:26 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Highway 17 and Old Yale Road.

The collision involved two vehicles. Despite the efforts of first responders, one person has succumbed to their injuries and two people have been transported to hospital.

Highway 17 and Old Yale Road will be closed in all directions until further notice.

Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collison Investigating Team (CCIT) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) are investigating the cause of this collision.

Police will be conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision, including what role speed or other driving behaviours may have played in this collision.

It is alleged the Lamborghini lost control and crashed into the retaining wall of a residence. The driver fled prior to Police arrival. Police have since spoken to the owner of the vehicle and launched an investigation into the actions of the driver.
