On Campaign's Eve, Tories Atop Fundraising List, But NDP Leaps To Second Place

The Canadian Press, 31 Jul, 2015 10:44 AM
OTTAWA — Elections Canada says the Conservative party raised $7.4 million from 45,532 donors in the second quarter of the year.

That's up from the $6.3 million they collected from 41,161 donors in the first three months of the year.

But it's the NDP that really flexed its fundraising muscles, taking in $4.5 million from 48,314 donors in the second quarter — its best quarterly showing ever, both in terms of money and the number of donations.

The Liberals raised $4.03 million from 32,789 individuals in the second quarter, slipping behind the New Democrats.

The Green party raised $760,475 from 10,824 donors in the second quarter, while the Bloc Quebecois took in $118,143 from 1,394 people.

In 2014, the Tories raised a total of $20.1 million, the Liberals collected $15.1 million and the NDP took in $9.5 million.
