North Vancouver RCMP is currently on scene following a stabbing inside an apartment in the Lower Lonsdale area.

On Tuesday, just after 11am, Mounties received a report of a disturbance inside an apartment complex in the 200 block of W 3rd Street.

Officers arrived and located a woman suffering from injuries that appeared to be the result of a stabbing.

Police and BC Ambulance Service immediately began lifesaving measures but the woman was later pronounced deceased on scene.

North Vancouver RCMP located and arrested a suspect who has been transported to the North Vancouver RCMP Cells. Both parties are known to each other.

This is believed to be an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the public.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation. 

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase; further information will be provided by IHIT.
