North Vancouver Music Teacher Charged With Sex Assault, Child Pornography

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 08 Oct, 2019 07:14 PM

A man who operates a North Vancouver music business called ‘LA Music Studio’ has been charged after an investigation into alleged sexual offences involving minors.

The original allegations against Lamar Victor Alviar, a 22-year-old Vancouver man, were reported to have happened in Coquitlam. The circumstances of the case led to Coquitlam RCMP taking the unusual step of publishing Alviar’s name and photo.

As a result of that step, additional witnesses have come forward to police. Alviar has now been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Section 163.1(4); one count of possession of child pornography,

Section 172.1(1); one count of communicating with a minor to facilitate a sexual offence,

Section 151; three counts of sexual touching of a minor,

Section 271; three counts of sexual assault.

Alviar’s first court appearance is today, October 7, 2019, in Port Coquitlam. Prior to these charges, Alviar had no significant police history.

If you believe that you’ve witnessed or been the victim of any sexual offence, please do not hesitate to call your local police. In Coquitlam, the non-emergency number is 604-945-1580 and our phone lines never close.
