No Weekend Vancouver Gig For Jon Bon Jovi At Stanley Park; City Says Promoter Didn't Get Permits

The Canadian Press, 18 Aug, 2015 11:32 AM
VANCOUVER — Fans of rocker Jon Bon Jovi may be feeling "shot through the heart" about the cancellation of a weekend concert in Vancouver's Stanley Park.

The multiple award-winning band and the Kings of Suburbia were to play this Saturday but the show has cancelled after the city said the promoter failed to obtain the required permits.

Bon Jovi Tours Inc. issued a statement saying Paper Rain Performances "has proven unable to guarantee a properly-produced event."

The City of Vancouver says it provided initial support for the event but the organizers did not have the required permits.

The statement from Bon Jovi Tours Inc., says it "shares the disappointment of fans" over the cancellation and that the band was "ready and willing to give a great performance on Saturday."

Paper Rain Performances says it still hopes a future date can be confirmed.

The show was scheduled a day after Bon Jovi planned to release a special fan album called "Burning Bridges" as a tie-in to its international tour. It's Bon Jovi's first album since guitarist Richie Sambora left the band in 2013.
