A former security guard at a university in Langley, B-C, who was convicted of manslaughter will not be going to prison.
The B-C Supreme Court found the 55-year-old man guilty in the 2020 incident at Trinity Western University that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old.
The man got an 18-month conditional sentence to be served in the community.
The Crown had wanted the judge to hand him a five-year prison sentence.
British Columbia's government has set Nov. 29 as the date when the Surrey Police Service will take over from the RCMP as the city's force of jurisdiction.
