Newfoundland Family Posts Video In Bid To Identify Piggy Bank Burglar

The Canadian Press, 21 Mar, 2016 12:56 PM
GOULDS, N.L. — Police and a Newfoundland family are on the hunt for a brazen burglar who smashed his way into the family's home and made off with a young girl's piggy bank.

Denyse Thompson says her 14-year-old daughter was saving for a vacation, but preferred not to discuss how much money she lost to the thief.

Thompson says the girl's piggy bank and some electronics -- including an iPod docking station -- were stolen Friday, along with a duffel bag to put them in.

Security cameras outside the home in Goulds, near St. John's, capture a man knocking on the front door before appearing to force his way through a back door.

A spokesman for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says police prefer to have a chance to identify suspects before videos are posted.

    The investigation continues.
