Police in New Westminster are looking for witnesses of an assault they believe may have been a targeted attack.
They say it happened near the intersection of Carnarvon Street and Alexander Street early yesterday.
The victim was taken to hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say they believe two people armed with weapons are responsible for the assault and are canvassing the area for C-C-T-V footage of the suspects.
Environment Canada says another winter blast is hammering northwestern parts of the province and is expected to hit the south coast before Thursday. The suspects are believed to be driving a grey newer-model Toyota Tacoma with significant front-end damage. The vehicle was last seen driving west-bound on Pitt River Road in Port Coquitlam. The officer was transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
