New Phone Scam Claims To Need Financial Info On Behalf Of Premier Brad Wall

The Canadian Press, 02 Jun, 2016 11:47 AM
REGINA — Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall's office says no one there is calling people looking for financial information.

The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority is warning that someone is calling the public claiming to be from Wall's office and looking for financial details.

The authority says the caller is using a phone number with an area code from Jamaica.

The scam came to light when the government heard Wednesday from a senior who received a bogus phone call in a voice mail.

A government official says the woman returned the call, but hung up when she was asked for her personal information.

The spokeswoman says the senior had been the victim of a phone scam in the past that cost her $10,000.
