OTTAWA — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie emerged today from a meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper touting the Canada-U.S. relationship.
But the potential Republican party candidate for the 2016 U.S. presidential election says the bond between the countries could be even stronger.
Christie met Harper and several cabinet members in Ottawa before laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in honour Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, who was gunned down at the site in October.
Christie says he had a wonderful conversation with Harper, but did not offer details.
During a visit to Calgary on Thursday, Christie reiterated his support for the controversial Keystone XL pipeline that would carry Alberta oilsands crude to the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Asked whether he would run for president, Christie said he has yet to make a decision.
