Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is making a pitch to Canadians that his party is a viable alternative to the Liberals or Conservatives when voters to the ballot box in the next federal election.
Everyone should be able to find a place they can afford. But for the students beside me, this has become out of reach.

Singh kicked off his party's caucus retreat in Edmonton today with the simple message that New Democrats can be trusted.
He says his party has spent years building a track record in order to show Canadians that government is supposed to work for the people.
Singh says his party has leveraged its power through its deal with the minority Liberal government to push through policies that he says have made life more affordable for families.
The NDP has taken credit for a new federal dental-care program and a temporary doubling of the GST rebate, among other measures.
Singh says his caucus will strategize over the next few days about how they can squeeze more out of the nearly two-year-old agreement.
