N.B. Tories promising better internet service

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 21 Aug, 2020 05:28 PM
  • N.B. Tories promising better internet service

New Brunswick's Progressive Conservative leader is promising to improve internet service in the province if he's re-elected in next month's election.

Blaine Higgs said today his government will continue to advance its internet action plan, which includes increasing rural broadband speeds and creating a province-wide 5G network.

Liberal Leader Kevin Vickers said today if his party is elected he'll restore funding for the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture.

Vickers says Higgs' Tory government slashed the department's budget by 40 per cent, but a Liberal government would promote scenic drives and trails and improve tourist information centres.

The Green party is announcing Louise Comeau as their candidate in Carleton-York. Comeau is an environmental consultant and instructor at the University of New Brunswick.

New Brunswick's political parties have until next Friday to fill out their list of candidates for the Sept. 14 provincial election.
