N.B. School Hockey Team Suspended For Incident Involving Most Members: Principal

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 06 Dec, 2016 12:40 PM
WOODSTOCK, N.B. — A high school hockey team in New Brunswick has been suspended for the rest of the season because of behaviour that violated a contract for players.

Bill Hogan, principal of Woodstock High School, would not reveal any details about the matter or explain why the whole team was suspended.

He would only say that there was an incident involving most of the players on the Thunder, which plays at the AA level as part of the province's Interscholastic Athletic Association.

He says the team will be reinstated next school year, adding that there is no police investigation linked to the matter.

The Thunder contract outlines codes of conduct for team members, who it says are ambassadors for school and must make good choices when it comes to tobacco, alcohol and drugs.

It says students can be suspended from play for a year if they violate that policy.

There are roughly 580 students at the Grade 9 to 12 school.
