Nanaimo, B.C., police search for shoeless man who escaped custody

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Dec, 2014 11:07 AM

NANAIMO, B.C. — Mounties in Nanaimo, B.C., say a new charge will be sought for a man who fled from police custody in his stocking feet — once officers find him.

Police say Alexander Trinkwon escaped while he was being interviewed at the city's RCMP detachment on Tuesday.

Officers say a significant number of resources were deployed in a search for the 25-year-old, including a police dog that was able to track him for a while but lost the trail.

Police say Trinkwon was last seen wearing jeans, a T-shirt and no shoes.

Trinkwon is facing charges of possession of stolen property, break-and-enter, and possession of break-and-enter tools.

A charge of escape of lawful custody will now be sought.
