Multiple People Shoot Outside Toronto Restaurant; Suspect Confirmed Dead

Darpan News Desk , 22 Jul, 2018 09:36 PM
Nine people, including a young girl, were shot outside a restaurant in Danforth and Logan Aves in Toronto, Canada. The shooter, Toronto Police confirmed, is dead. Police spokesman Mark Pugash said it’s too early to say whether the shooting is linked to terrorism.

The victims have been transported to various hospitals, American news network CNN reported. The condition of the victims is not immediately known. Toronto Star, quoting eyewitnesses, described a man dressed in black firing somewhere between 15 and 20 shots.

Entry and exit points to the area have been cordoned off as emergency crews respond to the situation. The police has appealed to witnesses in the area to come forward and assist in investigations.

Ontario premier Doug Ford said his heart goes out to the victims of the “horrific act of gun violence”.

“My heart goes out to the victims and loved ones of the horrific act of gun violence in Toronto. Thank you to all the first responders for acting quickly to help everyone affected,” he tweeted.

This is a developing story. More details are awaited.
