Mounties Search For Four Mexican Workers Last Seen In North Okanagan

The Canadian Press, 21 Jul, 2015 10:53 AM
VERNON, B.C. — Four migrant workers from Mexico have disappeared in B.C.'s north Okanagan and RCMP are trying to track the group.

Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says the men were employed at an orchard north of Vernon.

He says they had been in Canada for just 10 days when they took a cab into Vernon on June 26 to cash some cheques, and haven't been seen since.

Their personal effects remain at the Vernon-area orchard but their identification papers are gone.

Molendyk says the four may have moved to the south Okanagan to work at another orchard but haven't informed the Mexican consulate of their change in employment

It is possible they may have attempted to cross the border into the United States, but Molendyk says that would be illegal. (CICF)
