Mounties Say Four People Died In Separate B.C. Highway Crashes Since Friday

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Jan, 2019 11:50 PM

VANCOUVER — Mounties say four people have died in separate crashes since Friday on British Columbia highways.

On Jan. 4, police say a vehicle carrying two women on Highway 1 near the community of Field crossed the centre line and hit an oncoming transport truck.

The vehicle passenger, an Alberta resident, was killed and the driver has serious injuries, but the driver of the truck was not hurt.

In one of three fatal crashes around B.C. on Sunday, a Lower Mainland woman was killed when her vehicle left Highway 99 in Richmond, hit a highway sign, then landed upside in a water-filled ditch.

Fernie RCMP attended a crash in heavy snow where a driver who was not wearing a seatbelt died when his vehicle crossed the centre line on Highway 3 and hit a commercial van.

North Okanagan Mounties responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 south of Vernon where a driver lost control while attempting to pass two others vehicles, sending one of them into a rock face, killing the passenger inside.
