Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 21 Dec, 2014 11:37 AM

SURREY, B.C. — The RCMP are investigating after a toddler was left on his own at a Surrey, B.C. bus stop Saturday morning.

Workers at a liquor store (in the Sullivan Station area) said they spotted the boy, believed to be just two or three years old, at around 11 o`clock.

They said they brought the child into the store and looked after him until police arrived a couple of hours later.

A liquor store employee said police were informed that some customers told staff members they saw a man smacking a boy before getting on a bus and leaving the child behind.

Police say the boy is now in the custody of the Ministry of Children and Families.

They say they`ve been in touch with the child`s parents to try to determine exactly what happened, adding that so far no charges have been laid
