Mounties say the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia has been called in to investigate after an officer was shot during an arrest near Midway yesterday.
They say officers began surveilling a suspicious truck that travelled through several jurisdictions and eventually began driving up a forest service road near the Midway area.
Police say officers pulled over the vehicle and attempted to arrest two people -- one of whom suffered a minor bite from a police dog.
They say during the arrest, a police officer sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound but preliminary evidence shows the shot came from another officer -- which means the I-I-O was called and the case will also be the subject of a workplace incident investigation.
