Mountie Charged After Crashing Her Truck Into Motorcycle With 2 Riders On Board

The Canadian Press, 01 Aug, 2017 01:38 PM
VICTORIA — A Mountie has been charged following a collision with a motorcycle near Vernon, B.C.

The BC Prosecution Service says a charge against Const. Megan Valenta for driving without due care and attention has been sworn in provincial court.

The service says Valenta was driving an RCMP truck while on duty last August when it collided with a motorcycle on Highway 6.

A Kelowna man and woman who were on the motorcycle were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the officer was not injured.

The Independent Investigations Office looked into the incident but did not make recommendations on whether charges should be approved.

The prosecution service says Valenta's next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 14.
