Motorcyclist And Vancouver Police Officer Both Hurt When Biker Tries To Escape

  • Motorcyclist And Vancouver Police Officer Both Hurt When Biker Tries To Escape
VANCOUVER — A Vancouver police officer and the motorcyclist he was trying to stop both have serious injuries after the biker lost control of his vehicle.
 
Police say the officer was standing beside his own motorcycle when he tried to flag down the driver for speeding on Thursday morning.
 
Police say the motorcyclist allegedly struck the officer in an attempt to avoid police.
 
The driver lost control of the bike at the north end of the Knight Street bridge, a major artery in and out of the city. 
 
Both the officer and the motorcyclist are in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
 
The crash closed the bridge in both directions.
