Motorcycle Rider Accused Of Hitting And Injuring North Vancouver RCMP Officer

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 16 May, 2019 07:44 PM

VANCOUVER — Charges have been laid against a North Vancouver man accused of hitting and injuring an RCMP officer with his motorcycle.

Mark Webber is charged with obstructing a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Police say officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 1 on Feb. 9, when a motorcycle rider was flagged down by police.

After initially stopping, police say the rider accelerated, hitting the officer and knocking him to the ground.

Police say the officer suffered a traumatic brain injury, spent a month off work and is only now making a graduated return to the job.

North Vancouver media spokesman Sgt. Peter DeVries says the information the public gave police was instrumental in getting to this point in the investigation.
