Mother Of Boy Found Wandering Naked In Toronto's West End Granted Bail

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 Feb, 2015 02:36 PM
TORONTO — The mother of four-year-old boy who was found wandering naked outside in Toronto's west end has been released on bail.

The 23-year-old woman appeared in court on Saturday and was granted bail after being charged with abandoning a child under 10 on Friday.

One of the conditions of her bail indicates the woman will be unable to see her child.

Toronto Police said on Friday that the boy was found by a neighbour just in time and appeared to be all right.

Police say the identity of the woman is not being released because the child is currently under the protection of the Children's Aid Society of Toronto.

The woman's arrest came a day after an tragic unrelated case in Toronto involving a three-year-old boy.

Elijah Marsh died after spending hours in the bitter cold wearing only a shirt, a diaper and boots.

The boy had left his grandmother's apartment in the middle of the night.

A fundraising campaign on Tilt.com has helped to raise more than $150,000 so far for the boy's family to help cover funeral costs and ends on Sunday.
