Officials say more fire evacuees are to head back to their homes in northern Saskatchewan.
Evacuation orders have been lifted for several communities including La Loche, a village of about 2,600 people.
Some residents with medical conditions have been asked to remain in emergency shelters.
Officials say rain is expected in the next day or two, which should help firefighting efforts.
They say fire work is moving to offensive from defensive mode.
A higher-than-average number of wildfires this season forced about 13,000 people out of their homes three weeks ago.
About 1,000 residents returned home on Wednesday.
