Mobile overdose prevention site coming to Maple Ridge

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Dec, 2023 02:08 PM
  • Mobile overdose prevention site coming to Maple Ridge

A mobile overdose prevention site will launch in Maple Ridge later this month.

Fraser Health says in a statement that the site will begin operations on December 18th, using a customized van with an outdoor covered area to accommodate people who inhale or smoke substances.

The site is a partnership between Fraser Health and charitable organization RainCity Housing to provide staffing support in terms of detox, withdrawal management and treatment options.

Provincial Mental Health Minister Jennifer Whiteside says in a statement that sites such as the one in Maple Ridge are essential in keeping people alive in the battle against B-C's ongoing drug crisis.
