Mississauga, Ont., Doctor Charged With Defrauding OHIP, OPP Say

ORILLIA, Ont. — Provincial police say a Mississauga, Ont., doctor has been charged with fraud.
 
They say 57-year-old Essam Samy Michael is charged in relation to billings that were submitted to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan for services that were allegedly either not provided or billed inappropriately.
 
Michael is charged with one count of fraud over $5,000.
 
OPP say the case remains under investigation and police are reviewing evidence to determine the total loss to OHIP.
 
Michael is scheduled to appear in court in Brampton, Ont., on Nov. 7.
