Missing New Westminster Mom Florence Leung Found Dead Near Bowen Island

The Canadian Press, 17 Nov, 2016 09:48 AM
NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. — Police confirm the body of a missing woman who was the subject of an extensive search has been found just north of Vancouver.

New Westminster police say Florence Leung's body was pulled from the waters near Bowen Island on Tuesday.

A Facebook page dedicated to the search for the 32-year-old mother of an infant boy says Leung's husband was notified the same day.

Police say foul play is not suspected and the coroner has been advised.

Except for some surveillance video from a Vancouver convenience store, no trace of her was found during an extensive search.

Concern for Leung was immediate because her family believed she may have been suffering from post-partum depression related to the birth of her son, who is now two months old.

Leung was last seen leaving her home on Oct. 25 and her car was found the next day in Stanley Park, prompting an extensive search that produced some surveillance video from a nearby convenience store but no other trace of her.

The Facebook post thanks everyone who helped in the search for Leung.

"Florence, you are missed dearly in our hearts. We believe you are at a better place now watching over us with your loving, caring, and warming heart," it says.
