Metro Vancouver got more than a dusting of snow on Tuesday

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 14 Dec, 2021 09:16 PM
  • Metro Vancouver got more than a dusting of snow on Tuesday

Winter weather is made its way back into southern B.C. with Environment Canada issuing heavy snowfall warnings for several areas.

Snow fell right across Metro Vancouver for a good chunk of the day Tuesday, bringing up to 20 centimetres of snow in some areas.

SFU campus in Burnaby cancelled classes, the Patullo bridge in Surrey saw back ups right til 108th Ave, and buses and skytrain delays took place for commuters with buses parking on the streets. 8th Street in New Westminster turned into a parking lot and residents described it something of that nature that they had never seen before.

Other areas that were affected were Elk Valley, the Fraser Canyon along Highway 3, and Lytton, Boston Bar and Hope.

Driving conditions changed quickly with reduced visibility because of heavy snow at times.

Metro Vancouver could also see up to five centimetres of snow overnight and there is more snow coming towards the end of the week and next week.
