Men In Hospital After Fire In Courtenay Home Where Neighbours Heard Explosions

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 May, 2015 01:03 PM
COURTENAY, B.C. — Three men are in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a house fire in a Courtenay, B.C., home where neighbours heard explosions.

Comox Valley RCMP and Courtenay Fire are currently investigating the blaze that gutted the residence in the Vancouver Island community.

Mounties say neighbours reported the fire after hearing what sounded like explosions just before 5 p.m. Friday.

Three men were seen rushing out of the house and into a vehicle, before they arrived at hospital seeking treatment shortly after.

RCMP say all of the men have been airlifted to other specialized hospital units due to the severity of their injuries.

Once the fire is extinguished and it's safe to enter, police say they will obtain a search warrant and take a closer look to figure out what caused the blaze.
