Men Charged With Stealing Marijuana From Ontario Man's Legal Grow Operation

The Canadian Press, 23 Sep, 2016 11:23 AM
KAWARTHA LAKES, Ont. — Two Ontario men are facing charges after allegedly stealing marijuana from a legal grow operation.

Durham regional police say a resident of the Kawartha Lakes, Ont., region — who has a licence to grow medical marijuana — noticed a man taking pot from his garden early Thursday.

They say the man scared off the suspects, who fled in a waiting vehicle, and provided Ontario Provincial Police with the licence plate number.

OPP caught up to the suspects in Sebright, Ont., placed them under arrest and turned them over to Durham police.

Two 29-year-old men — from Stouffville and Pefferlaw — are charged with theft over $5,000.

A police spokeswoman couldn't say if the marijuana was recovered and returned to the owner.
