Manslaughter Charge In Death Of 55-year-old Woman On Vancouver Island

    LADYSMITH, B.C. — A man in Ladysmith, B.C., has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a 55-year-old woman.
     
    RCMP say Trevor Meers remains in custody and is scheduled for a court appearance next Tuesday.
     
    Police aren't identifying the victim, but say she and Meers knew each other.
     
    Fifty-year-old Meers was arrested after a 911 caller reported that several people were involved in a fight at a modular home park around midnight on Tuesday.
     
    An ambulance was dispatched to the home, but the woman died at the scene.
