Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger To Shuffle Cabinet Following Internal Revolt

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 29 Apr, 2015 11:25 AM
  • Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger To Shuffle Cabinet Following Internal Revolt
WINNIPEG — Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger is expected to shuffle his cabinet this afternoon following a leadership challenge that he barely survived.

Selinger lost five top cabinet ministers late last year when they resigned after calling for him to step down.

None of the ministers who opposed him or spoke out against him has been reinstated to cabinet.

Selinger won a March leadership contest by 33 votes.

Selinger is expected to reward loyalist backbencher Mohinder Saran who delivered more than 100 delegates to the premier.

Steve Ashton, who ran against Selinger, is also expected to return to cabinet.

Ashton is the party's longest-serving MLA and resigned as emergency measures minister to run for the top job.
