Manitoba NDP Promise To Cut Health-care Fees On Campaign Trail

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Mar, 2016 10:29 AM
  • Manitoba NDP Promise To Cut Health-care Fees On Campaign Trail
WINNIPEG — Manitoba New Democrats say they will cut the cost of ambulance rides and hospital parking fees if they are re-elected April 19.

NDP Leader Greg Selinger says he would cut ambulance fees in half — similar to a promise already made by the Progressive Conservatives.

Selinger also says he would remove the per-kilometre ambulance fee for rural and northern patients.

The New Democrats are also promising to double funding for an emergency paramedic program, which supports frequent ambulance patients and provides supports in their home communities.

Selinger says the total cost of the promises is $20 million a year.
