Surrey RCMP say a man is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a shooting incident Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 8:40 a.m.

Mounties say officers were called to an encampment at the 5300-block of 180th Street in the Cloverdale area to respond to a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Police say the early investigation indicates the shooting was targeted and appeared to be an isolated incident.

They say anybody who witnessed the incident or has information, including vehicle dashcam footage, is asked to contact Surrey RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Police in Victoria say they've arrested a suspect who they believe violently sexually assaulted a woman last week. Victoria police say a woman was threatened and assaulted in the early morning hours of July 18th after an unknown man took her to an area near a piece of public art known as the Commerce Canoe before fleeing.
