Man Under Arrest, Victim Hurt After Samaritan Stops Vancouver Sex Attack

    Vancouver police have arrested a man after a violent sexual assault on a woman in a home in the Strathcona neighbourhood.

    Police say a man armed with a weapon entered a home shortly after noon Thursday, attacked and tied up the woman and then sexually assaulted her.

    A witness who heard the woman screaming went into the home and struggled with the attacker.

    Police say the Good Samaritan held the suspect and others came to help while they waited for police to arrive.

    Police say the victim was taken to hospital with significant injuries.

    The suspect remains in custody and police say they'll be recommending several charges.
