Mounties in Port Alberni say a man remains in critical condition after being stabbed in the city this weekend.

They say officers responded to a call around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and arrived to find the injured victim. 

Police say the man was taken to hospital, where he was stabilized before being transported out of the community for additional treatment.

The R-C-M-P say they have since arrested a suspect for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
