The Canadian Press, 21 Jul, 2015 10:01 AM
VANCOUVER — A man shot and killed by Mounties outside the RCMP headquarters in Surrey, B.C., has been identified.

The BC Coroners Service has issued a news release saying 20-year-old Hudson Brooks of Surrey died after being shot by police at around 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators from the province's Independent Investigations Office have said police responded to reports of a suicidal male screaming outside the station.

RCMP say police rushed outside and spotted the man, a struggle ensued and he was shot by an officer.

The B.C. Coroner's Service and the Independent Investigations Office are investigating Brooks' death.

He was the second person fatally shot by B.C. police last week, after another man was shot and killed by RCMP in Dawson Creek on Thursday.
