Man sentenced for multiple break-ins over a year

Police say a 44-year-old man has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for committing multiple break-ins in a six-month period between 2022 and 2023.

Burnaby R-C-M-P say the man had been targetting high-end homes under construction.

The man was arrested in February 2023 after police found stolen property including stoves, fridges, toilets and plumbing fixtures, some worth as much as 25-thousand-dollars individually.

Police say the man is currently serving another sentence for an unrelated offence, and the new jail term will be served after the previous sentence is complete.

There have been 264 lab-confirmed cases of the bacterial infection since the outbreak at 11 daycares was declared on Sept. 4.
