Vancouver police say a man jumped on a police car and smashed the windshield over the weekend before he tried to run away.
Officers say yesterday's incident was unrelated to a traffic stop they were conducting at the time.
A man in his 20s was arrested and charges are pending.
Bill Blair and six other federal cabinet ministers provided an update Monday on Canada's wildfire situation, even as smoke from fires north and west of the city covered Parliament Hill's Peace Tower in a grey haze. As of late Monday afternoon, 424 fires were burning across Canada, more than 250 of which are considered out of control.
As it stands, Canadian parents who were born abroad cannot pass their citizenship down to their child unless the child was born in Canada. Mounties and firefighters in North Vancouver say one person died in a house fire in the city. The North Vancouver R-C-M-P and the city's fire department say they are investigating Friday's blaze in the 400-block of Queensbury Avenue.
