RCMP in Surrey are investigating a shooting that sent a man in his 30s to hospital Thursday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the area of 96 Avenue and 116 Street at 8:40 a.m. after receiving reports that a man had been shot.
The victim, a 33-year-old man from Surrey, was taken to hospital. The extent of his injuries remains unclear.
Police have not said whether the man was known to police, or whether he was believed to know his assailant.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, and has yet to be located according to the RCMP.
“The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and is still outstanding. A nearby school, Royal Heights Elementary, was locked out temporarily as a precaution while police investigated,” Cpl. Scotty Schumann said.
“Officers are receiving assistance from Delta Police while neighbourhood canvasses for witnesses and video surveillance are conducted,” he said.
“Surrey RCMP investigates all shootings thoroughly and they are a priority matter for the detachment. If anyone saw this incident unfold or has any information about those involved, police would like to hear from you right away.”
