Man Dies Of Injuries After Early-morning Homicide In New Westminster

    NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. — A man involved in an altercation in New Westminster, B.C., has died of his injuries.
     
    On November 8th 2016 at approximately 3:40am, the New Westminster Police Department was called to the 700 block of 5th Avenue to assist the British Columbia Ambulance Service with a male victim who sustained injuries during an altercation. 
     
    When officers arrived, a suspect male was located and taken into custody.  The male victim died as a result of his injuries, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation.
     
    IHIT will be working in partnership with the New Westminster Police Major Crime Unit to gather evidence and determine motive. From the evidence gathered so far, this homicide does not appear to be random.
     
    Police are currently in the evidence gather phase, and no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
