Man dies in 'gang-related' shooting in Mission

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 29 Aug, 2023 01:45 PM
  • Man dies in 'gang-related' shooting in Mission

Homicide investigators say the victim of what they suspect was a targeted gang shooting in Mission, B.C., has died of his injuries.

The Independent Homicide Investigation Team says the 45-year-old man was found wounded late Monday at Mission's Laminman Avenue after reports of gunfire.

A vehicle fire was also reported nearby and IHIT says in a statement that investigators believe the shooting was related to the British Columbia gang conflict.

IHIT says the victim died in hospital early Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Timothy Pierotti says investigators are working to determine the motive and anyone with information should contact IHIT.

He says investigators are particularly interested in seeing dash-camera video from the 32700-block of Laminman Avenue or the area around Doyle Street and Richards Avenue between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Mission RCMP say the shooting appears to have been targeted and they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
